Silver medal for Noosa at National Championships

The coxed quad masters crew from Coastal Rowing Noosa (CRN) won a silver medal at the Australian Coastal Rowing Championships held in Mooloolaba from 15-18 August 2024. The local club secured the medal in the beach sprint event coming in only three seconds behind the winners from Glenorchy in Tasmania. “This was only the third time this coastal rowing championships has been held in Australia but there was a real uptick in participation, particularly from younger crews.”

The International Olympic Committee announced today that Beach Sprint Rowing, a format of the Coastal Rowing discipline, will be included in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games programme, alongside Classic Rowing.

Noosa Laguna Bay

Pater Taylor strokes the coastal quad through a tricky bar crossing with one metre waves, into Laguna Bay and onto Noosa Main Beach for coffee. Crew included a rower from Hobart who enjoyed the experience. The return row included surfing waves while crossing the bar, one of the must do coastal rowing experiences.

CRN welcomes visiting Brisbane rowers

CRN showcased coastal rowing to several members of the Brisbane-based Grammarians and Dragons rowing clubs on Saturday 2 April. The mixed club crews took two quads through some rolling swells across the Noosa bar and into stunning Laguna Bay. The two crews joined paddle boarders and lifesavers in surfing onto Noosa main beach before enjoying a well-earned coffee break at Sails. Catching the waves back over the bar was one of the main highlights of the day.
